Permaculture Keyline Water Systems: Tom Ward @ Wolf Gulch Farm

This farm is down the road from where we stayed outside of Ashland, OR. Check out the Water Supply and Storage clip @ 1:46 and tell me that the aerial view of the spring doesn't look similar to Tassajara's (mostly in relationship to the cardinal directions). Granted, most photos of mountain drainages are going to have some geographic resemblance. Ok, well, I haven't seen too many in my time, if that helps explain things.

(We didn't have time to get over to Wolf Gulch. Maybe next time.)

Concurrent tours!

Wow, seems like no small coincidence that a group of monks, nuns, and lay people from the Community of Mindful Living (Thich Nhat Hanh) are taking a path similar to ours right now. Look, a similar name for their mission!

I'm still trying to get over the fact that I missed this when I was in the area, and not doing much of anything that weekend. Actually there were not one, but two "days of mindfulness" in Eugene. Bummer. I'm hoping to catch up with the tour when we roll into Portland on Monday. (FYI, my meditation practice began with Thich Nhat Hanh retreats in France and California. For a couple of years I practiced at the Mindfulness Practice Center of Fairfax.)
